YouTube Star Ben Potter Dies at 40 Following ‘Unfortunate Accident,’ Says Wife!

YouTube star Ben Potter, known as Comicstorian, has died at age 40.

The internet personality, who had over three million subscribers on YouTube, passed away on June 8, 2024, in an “unfortunate accident,” his wife Nathalie announced on social media.

Ben was famous for creating audio dramas of comic books and frequently talked about the Marvel and DC Universes on his Comicstorian channel.

In her message, Nathalie described Ben as more than just Comicstorian. “To his loved ones, he was one of the best and most supportive people you could ask for,” she said without sharing details of the accident.

“As a husband, son, brother, friend, or even to strangers, Ben was loving and genuine. He always made time for his loved ones, listened to them, and tried to make them laugh. He was our rock and would reassure us whenever we needed it,” Nathalie added.

Nathalie said her husband “was my world” and shared that she needs time to be with friends and family. She said, “I have so many things I need to figure out, but first, I need to grieve. Please respect my privacy and everyone else’s. Right now, my priority is preserving everything he’s built, and I don’t have any plans beyond that.”

She added, “His channel was one of his greatest accomplishments. While we all need time to mourn him, I know he wouldn’t want it to end like this.”

Nathalie mentioned that Ben spent over 10 years sharing his love for his hobbies on YouTube. “It was his passion for exciting stories and well-written characters that got him started,” she said.

“The team and I want to keep that going. To honor him by continuing to tell great stories and keep the memory of our very own superhero alive,” Nathalie concluded. “We supported each other in everything we wanted to do, and I’m not going to stop now.”

Ben, who posted almost 4,000 YouTube videos, shared his last video, titled “Why DC’s Reboots Beat Marvel,” just a day before he died.

O’Shea Jackson Jr., son of Ice Cube and Kimberly Woodruff, was among those who paid tribute. He wrote on X, “I am still taking my break from Twitter for personal reasons. But with the news I just got, I have to come back and say something. Rest in Peace to Comicstorian. I’m heartbroken to hear this news. One of my favorite YouTubers, thank you so much for your work. I was a huge fan.”
