If you didn’t know, the actor was born with a lazy eye that corrected itself, but he has worn strong glasses since he was 6. For him, not seeing clearly has always been normal.

Jake says his poor vision helps his acting. For example, in his 2015 movie “Southpaw,” he didn’t wear his contact lenses in one scene.
To make his character’s reaction to his wife’s death more realistic. He could only react to what he heard, not what he saw.
In his personal life, Jake’s blurry mornings give him a peaceful escape before he puts on his glasses and starts his day.
According to the American Foundation for the Blind (AFB), 20/400 vision is very low. Jake’s vision is 20/1250, making him legally blind.

Jake has talked about his vision problems before. In 2017, he shared that he was bullied in school for wearing glasses. But those tough times paid off!
